Rebuilding test and scheduling infrastructure for a health-tech start-up

I worked with Coherent Health, a health-tech start-up, over a long engagement that was part building and part advice.

The first problem was testing. Their integration tests were slow and awkward to write, which made it harder to build and ship with confidence. I rebuilt the testing setup around reusable Postgres databases, so engineers could spin up realistic, isolated data quickly and write integration tests easily. Testing stopped being a chore and became something the team could rely on.

The second was scheduling. Their way of running scheduled jobs could not grow safely as the number of jobs went up, which is a real risk in a domain where reliability matters. I designed a scheduling system that could grow with them without the safety and correctness problems they had started to hit.

Alongside the build work I advised on a few things: how to approach AI in their product and their workflow, how to think about hiring as the team grew, and how to turn rough requirements into well-shaped, workable features. It is the same outcome-first way of building that runs through all my work.
